President to Hold Meetings with EU and Foreign Leaders During Cypriot Presidency Inauguration

The President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, will hold a series of bilateral meetings with leaders and representatives of European and foreign institutions as part of the inauguration ceremony of the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the European Union on Wednesday, January 7th. The meetings will focus on issues such as coordinating European priorities, supporting Ukraine, stability in the Eastern Mediterranean, and cooperation with countries in the Southern Neighborhood. Specifically, he is expected to meet with the President of the European Council, Antonio Costa, with an emphasis on strengthening European strategic autonomy, security, and resilience. He will also meet with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, to discuss European support for Ukraine and the protection of the fundamental principles of the EU. In addition, he will meet with the President of Lebanon, Joseph Aoun, to discuss stability in the Eastern Mediterranean and strengthening EU-Southern Neighborhood cooperation. He will also receive the Minister of Petroleum of Egypt, who will represent the country's President at the ceremony. Following the ceremony, President Christodoulides will host a formal dinner in honor of the heads of delegations, during which he will have further contacts with leaders of Moldova and Iraq, as well as other high-ranking officials.
