President's First Reaction to Haralambous' Resignation - "Any Leader with Clean Hands Must Remain Sober"

The President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, commented on the resignation of his Chief of Staff, Charalambos Haralambous, describing it as an act of self-confidence and trust. He stressed the need for a full investigation of the video case by the competent authorities, highlighting the contribution of foreign countries and the European Union. At the same time, he announced his intention to completely abolish the Social Support Agency, considering its transfer to the State Scholarships Foundation, while assuring that a way would be found to support disadvantaged students who benefited from the Agency. The President called on political forces to demonstrate sobriety, expressing fears that the current situation would affect the results of the upcoming parliamentary elections. He emphasized that the Government is accountable to the Cypriot people for the implementation of its electoral program.
