Record Revenue Year for Customs Department

2025 was a particularly successful and efficient year for the Customs Department, as its total revenue increased by 5.6% compared to 2024, boosting state coffers by over €75 million. This increase was observed in all revenue areas, with import duties increasing by 11.5% (+€6.8 million), excise taxes by 7.1% (+€38.2 million), other revenues by 9.3% (+€0.5 million) and VAT on imports by 4% (+€30 million). The increased revenue of the Customs Department contributed to the government's ability to recently announce support measures for the economy and citizens, following the crisis of the war in the Middle East and the impact of foot-and-mouth disease on livestock farming. These results demonstrate the effectiveness of the Customs Department and its contribution to strengthening the country's economy.
