Refugee Committee Investigates Turkish Cypriot Property Allocation and Rental Costs

The Parliamentary Committee on Refugees examined the process of allocating Turkish Cypriot properties and commercial premises, as well as delays in agricultural land subsidies. The Committee requested the Department of Management of Turkish Cypriot Properties to submit the scoring list for transparency, so that applicants can understand the reasons for their selection or rejection. Cases were identified where commercial property rents skyrocketed from €20 to €1,700, making businesses unsustainable, which will be further investigated. The Committee found that the scoring process is fair, but transparency is essential to enhance public trust.
