Renowned Cypriot Chef Andreas Mavrommatis Passes Away

Renowned Cypriot chef Andreas Mavrommatis passed away on Saturday evening, March 14th, in Paris. He was co-owner of the Maison Mavrommatis chain of restaurants and delicatessen stores and the first Cypriot to be awarded a Michelin star. He began his career in Paris, where he studied gastronomy and, together with his brothers, founded a successful business that brought Greek flavors to France. His chain now includes 4 restaurants and 9 stores in France and Cyprus, while his products, under the brand name “Thessalia,” are particularly popular in the French market. Mavrommatis also curated the gala dinner for the Greek Cuisine Awards in 2019.
