Revised Costs May Save Cyprus's Historic Buildings

The Council of Ministers has approved an increase in the maximum recognized cost of restoring listed buildings in Cyprus, in order to respond to the increases in the prices of materials and labor, which have reached 25%-30%. This increase discourages owners from proceeding with restorations, as the cost has increased significantly. The revision of prices, combined with measures by the Ministry of Interior, such as rapid licensing and the digitization of cultural heritage, is expected to strengthen the restoration process and prevent the collapse of listed buildings. The timely implementation of the announcements is crucial for the protection of these buildings.
