Road Transport Department Warns of Dangerous Vehicles

The Road Transport Department (RTD) is warning about dangerous vehicles, based on information from the Consumer Protection Service, identified in the last weeks of 2025 and the first week of 2026. These vehicles have been reported to the EU's rapid alert system (Safety Gate) due to risks of injury, electric shock, fire, and environmental hazards. The list of dangerous vehicles includes passenger cars, passenger vans, electric bicycles, electric scooters, buses, commercial vehicles, and motorcycles. The RTD calls on manufacturers, agents, distributors, importers, and sellers to inform the Department if they have distributed or have such products on the Cypriot market. Economic operators are obliged to take all necessary measures to recall these products, in accordance with current legislation. At the same time, the RTD calls on consumers who own these specific vehicles to contact the manufacturer or agent for instructions and, if necessary, to stop using them and return them to the point of purchase. In the event of a refusal to respond from economic operators, consumers are asked to submit a written complaint to the Consumer Protection Service through its website. Information on dangerous products is available on the Safety Gate website, using the alert number of each product. Additionally, consumers can contact the Road Transport Department directly via email.
