Russia: No Date Yet for Next Round of Ukraine Talks

The Kremlin stated today that no date has been set for the next round of peace talks regarding Ukraine, but expressed optimism that negotiations will take place soon. Russia, Ukraine, and the United States met last week in Abu Dhabi for a second round of trilateral talks, which did not yield significant progress, although 314 prisoners of war were exchanged – the first such exchange since October. Simultaneously, the Kremlin has expressed reservations about France's willingness to resume dialogue at a high level, despite recent contacts between Moscow and Paris. Presidents Putin and Macron last spoke in July 2025, and Macron recently sent his top diplomat to Moscow. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that Russia desires the continuation of dialogue to address important issues, emphasizing that a complete breakdown in relations is counterproductive.
