Seventh Place for Christodoulidis at Austrian Grand Prix!

Cypriot judoka Petros Christodoulidis finished seventh at the Austrian GRAND PRIX, achieving the biggest success of his career in the -66kg category. 47 athletes participated in the competition. This success earns him 182 points and moves him into the Top50 of the World Ranking, around 45th place, from 58th before the competition. Christodoulidis achieved three victories, defeating Charlie Young (Great Britain), Pongracz (Hungary) and Sherer (Austria), before losing to Spaniard Garcia Torne in the pool final and then to Nieto Chinarro in the repechage. The GRAND PRIX series is the second most prestigious after the GRAND SLAM. With this success, Christodoulidis has surpassed 1000 points in the World Ranking, for the first time in his career. This followed his 9th place at the Paris GRAND SLAM last month. Christodoulidis has been competing in -66kg since 2025, having previously competed in -60kg where he won a bronze medal at a GRAND PRIX. After the competition in Austria, Christodoulidis travels to the Czech Republic for a training camp. Cypriots Andreou (-73 kg) and Giorgakis (-81 kg) are also competing at the Austrian GRAND PRIX.
