Six Arrests and 120 Traffic Violations in One Night – Police Crackdown on Crime

The Cyprus Police conducted extensive preventative operations throughout the night, aiming to prevent crime and protect citizens. The operations included an increased police presence in urban areas, checks of premises, and road controls. During the checks, a total of six individuals were arrested for various offenses, including extortion, drug possession, riding a motorcycle without a license and under the influence of drugs, and failure to appear in court. In the Paphos district, two individuals were arrested for offenses related to extortion and drug possession. In Limassol, an 18-year-old driver and her passenger were arrested for riding a stolen motorcycle, as well as two individuals for failing to appear in court and driving under the influence of drugs. Additionally, 30 premises were checked and over 370 road checks were carried out, resulting in over 120 traffic violations, of which 46 were related to speeding. Four cars were also impounded. These operations are part of a broader and ongoing preventative plan by the Police, with increased presence, targeted checks, and immediate action in all districts, aiming to prevent crime and enhance the sense of security among citizens.
