Storm Goretti Causes Chaos in the UK

Storm Goretti has brought widespread disruption to the United Kingdom with strong winds, snow, and ice. Although the red warning for winds has been lifted, the impact remains significant. The Channel Islands experienced wind gusts of up to 99 mph (159 km/h), a record for the area. Over 500,000 citizens received emergency alerts, and more than 70,000 households are without power. Birmingham Airport has suspended operations due to heavy snowfall, while Jersey has declared a state of emergency and Guernsey residents have been advised to stay home. Dozens of schools will remain closed.
