Strong Economic Footprint for the Betting Sector in Q3 2025

The betting market in Cyprus continues to thrive, as evidenced by the financial results for the third quarter of 2025 released by the National Betting Authority. Gross revenues for Class A (land-based betting) and Class B (online betting) operators increased by 7% compared to the same period in 2024, reaching €312.48 million. Compared to the third quarter of 2023, the increase is even more significant, reaching 20%. A notable difference in performance exists between the two Classes. While Class A revenues slightly decreased (-1% compared to 2024, +7% compared to 2023), Class B revenues saw a substantial rise (+10% compared to 2024, +25% compared to 2023). This trend indicates a growing preference among players for online betting. Player winnings across both Classes totaled €277.45 million, representing a 9% increase compared to the previous year and a 20% increase compared to 2023. The majority of these winnings (€214.29 million) went to Class B players, confirming the dominance of online betting. Despite the revenue increase, betting payouts decreased by 5% compared to 2024, reaching €35.03 million. This reduction is primarily due to a decrease in Class B payouts (-8%). Additionally, a decrease was observed in the number of licensed Class A premises (-2%), while efforts to block illegal betting websites continued, with the list numbering 21,825.
