Students Out of Class Due to Cold: The Reality of Cypriot Schools in 2026

Students at the Acropolis Lyceum in Cyprus were forced to remain outside the classroom for two teaching periods due to heating problems. The school's heating systems were not working, resulting in temperatures being too low for students to attend lessons. Despite repeated complaints to the school administration and the Ministry of Education, the problem remains unresolved. This situation is not limited to the Acropolis Lyceum but is also observed in other schools across Cyprus, where heating systems are either damaged or inadequate. Despite the installation of air conditioning in many schools for the Pan-Cypriot exams, the basic heating problems remain unsolved, creating a contradiction with the image of Cyprus as a modern European country and the presidency of the EU Council in 2026.
