Supermarkets to Remain Open on Saturday Despite Day of Mourning

Supermarkets in Cyprus will remain open on Saturday, January 17th, despite the declared day of mourning for former President George Vassiliou. Andreas Hadjiadamou, Executive Secretary of the Pan-Cypriot Association of Supermarkets, stated that the private sector, including supermarkets, will operate as usual. No changes are expected to the standard Saturday working procedures, and the regulations governing weekend work will apply. Employees will be compensated according to existing legislation.
