A 33-year-old man has been remanded in custody for eight days following a court decision regarding the attempted murder of a 40-year-old man in Tersefanou. The suspect faces ten charges, including attempted murder, causing grievous bodily harm, and burglary. According to authorities, the motive for the attack appears to be personal disputes, as the perpetrator is the ex-husband of the victim's partner. The case details the timeline of the attack: the 33-year-old entered the apartment through the balcony door and attacked the 40-year-old. He then took an axe from the kitchen and inflicted serious injuries on the victim. Simultaneously, he threatened and attacked a 46-year-old woman who was in the apartment, while she managed to escape and notify the police. The 40-year-old was initially taken to Larnaca General Hospital, where he was found to have an amputation of the left thumb, an incomplete amputation of the right thumb and index finger, as well as multiple lacerations. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was transferred to Nicosia General Hospital for further treatment.
