Switzerland Freezes Assets Linked to Maduro

Switzerland has frozen assets belonging to Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his associates, following his arrest by US authorities and transfer to the United States. The measure, effective immediately and lasting four years, aims to prevent the outflow of potentially illicit funds and builds upon existing sanctions imposed on Venezuela since 2018. The Swiss government clarified that the freeze does not affect members of the current Venezuelan government and pledged to return any illegally obtained funds to the Venezuelan people. The measure will be in effect for four years.
