Syria: Nine Dead in Clashes Between Kurds and De Facto Government

In Syria, at least nine people were killed in clashes between the de facto government forces and Kurds in Aleppo, marking the deadliest confrontations between the two sides in recent months. The clashes stem from a perceived breach of an agreement for the integration of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) into state security mechanisms. The SDF accused the government of targeting the Sheikh Masoud neighborhood, while the government blamed the SDF for targeting neighborhoods in Aleppo. As a result of the violence, Aleppo airport was closed for 24 hours, and schools, universities, and public services remained closed. Kurdish leader Mazloum Abdi recently held talks on integrating his forces, but without significant progress.
