The New Kato Paphos – Coral Bay Avenue on Track for Implementation in 2026

The implementation of the large project to create a modern four-lane avenue from the Tombs of the Kings in Kato Paphos to Coral Bay in Pega, is the big challenge of the local authorities with the arrival of 2026. Government departments, consultants and local authorities have now begun to coordinate processes to make feasible a project of major importance that has been on paper for many years. The goal is to create a modern four-lane avenue that meets all modern safety standards and serves citizens. For this purpose, two meetings were held last year, the first at the Ministry of Transport and the second at the Akamas Municipal Palace, with the aim of coordinating state services and the project's consultants. Upgrading the road artery and creating, in essence, a four-lane avenue, is of major importance for the entire lower Paphos area, stressed Akamas Mayor Marinos Lambrou, given that it concentrates almost 40% of the province's tourist accommodation. However, until now, the existing road artery does not provide ideal safety levels for motorists, cyclists and pedestrians, and in many places it does not even have lighting and sidewalks. The goal that has been set is to start construction of the project within 2026, stressed Mr. Lambrou, expressing the willingness of the Akamas Municipality to assist from its side as much as possible for the faster implementation of the large project.
