Tourism Minister Reports Strong Booking Numbers for 2026

Deputy Minister of Tourism Kostas Koumis stated that initial booking numbers for 2026 are exceptionally encouraging. He emphasized that the main challenge is ensuring the satisfaction of visitors who choose Cyprus for their holidays. Koumis held a meeting with stakeholders from the Famagusta district to discuss the challenges and actions related to the region's tourism sector. During the meeting, the advantages and disadvantages of the Ayia Napa and Protaras tourist destinations were discussed, as well as emerging threats such as climate change. The Deputy Minister of Tourism noted that the government has set a goal of upgrading the country's tourist destinations. Koumis highlighted that local authorities have already undertaken significant upgrade projects, including tree planting, connecting destinations with their history, and installing sculptures. He stressed the importance of coordination between the Deputy Ministry, local authorities, and the tourism industry for the continuous improvement of the tourism product.
