Trump: “They Desperately Want to Make a Deal – They Should Have Done It a Week Ago”

Donald Trump stated that the interim leaders of Iran are “desperately” seeking a deal, but should have come to the negotiating table earlier. According to him, military operations were planned to last up to four weeks, but were completed quickly due to Iran's willingness to negotiate. Trump expressed strong dissatisfaction with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer for his initial refusal to allow the use of the Diego Garcia base for US strikes. He stressed that this refusal was unprecedented in bilateral relations. Later, Starmer revised his position, allowing the use of the base for specific defensive purposes. Trump criticized Starmer for the delay in approval, arguing that Iran is responsible for the death of “many people from your country.” He reiterated that the operation is “well ahead of schedule” and implied that Britain should have approved the use of the base from the start.
