Trump Wants Greenland: "We'll Take It, Nothing Less is Acceptable"

Donald Trump has sparked controversy with a social media post stating that the United States should acquire control of Greenland, deeming it essential for national security and strengthening NATO. Trump argued that Greenland is vital for a project he calls the "Golden Dome" and warned that if the US doesn't take control, Russia or China will. Denmark and Greenland have firmly rejected Trump's claims, emphasizing that borders should not be changed by force and that people cannot be bought. The Danish Prime Minister, Mette Frederiksen, stated that Copenhagen's position is a fundamental principle and goes beyond the borders of Greenland, while the Greenlandic Prime Minister, Jens-Frederik Nielsen, clarified that Greenland does not wish to become part of the United States. Trump's statement has raised concerns and discussions about the US's geopolitical intentions and the potential destabilization of the region. Greenland, although an autonomous territory of Denmark, holds strategic importance due to its geographical location in the Arctic Circle. French President Emmanuel Macron warned that any violation of Greenland's sovereignty would have "unprecedented, cascading consequences" and pledged full solidarity with Denmark.
