Tufan Erhurman: No Proposals Received from President Christodoulides Regarding Unilateral Measures

Tufan Erhurman stated that he has not yet received any proposals from President Christodoulides regarding unilateral measures to benefit Turkish Cypriots. This statement came in response to reports in the Greek Cypriot media that President Christodoulides wishes to discuss two new initiatives with Mr. Erhurman concerning such measures in the areas of health and the economy. Mr. Erhurman mentioned that he will publicize any proposals he receives, thus denying the circulating information. “Haber Kibris” reports that President Christodoulides seeks to maintain dialogue with the Turkish Cypriot leader and therefore requested Mr. Erhurman's opinion before announcing the aforementioned measures. “Haber Kibris” cites information from KYPE regarding the President's desire to avoid escalating tensions with the Turkish Cypriot side, by seeking Mr. Erhurman's approval. In summary, Tufan Erhurman denies reports of proposals from President Christodoulides regarding unilateral measures, stating that he will inform the public if and when he receives any proposal.
