Two Iranian Smugglers Sentenced to Prison for Human Trafficking Scheme

Two Iranian smugglers were sentenced to four years in prison by the Limassol District Court for defrauding two victims of a total of €24,000 with the promise of illegal travel to Germany via Cyprus and the issuance of a forged passport. The victims traveled through Istanbul and occupied territories, ending up in the free areas where they were stranded. The defendants pleaded guilty to offenses such as aiding illegal passage, money laundering, forgery, and threats. Their operation was characterized as organized and multi-stage, with victims being approached through social networks and using alternating individuals. They exploited the vulnerable position of the victims, who depended on them for accommodation and their onward travel.
