U-Turn for DISY? Reconsideration of Nikos Sykas' Exclusion

The leadership of the Democratic Rally (DISY) is reconsidering the case of Limassol MP Nikos Sykas following the withdrawal of the assault complaint by the complainant. The scheduled meeting of the party's Political Bureau has been postponed until Monday, January 12th, to assess all the new developments. The withdrawal of the complaint, combined with the request for lifting Sykas' parliamentary immunity, has sparked internal discussions and hesitations. Meanwhile, the Legal Service has proceeded with the registration of the immunity lifting request to the Supreme Constitutional Court, while the Police continue the investigation. The question remains whether DISY will proceed with excluding Mr. Sykas from the ballot or reconsider the decision, taking into account the latest developments.
