Urgent Preliminary Investigation Launched into Airport Blackout

An urgent preliminary investigation has been ordered by the Athens Prosecutor, Aristeidis Koreas, regarding yesterday's blackout at the airports. The investigation will be conducted by the cybercrime department and will examine whether the offense of dangerous interference with air traffic was committed, as well as the source of the interference on the frequencies of the Athens FIR. Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Christos Staikos, stated that there was no risk to flight safety and that answers will be given immediately as to the cause of the problem. At the same time, a sworn administrative investigation is underway to assign responsibility. The minister stated that there will be consequences for those responsible, while passengers affected by cancellations and delays are entitled to compensation. The airlines also have the right to claim damages for the losses they have suffered.
