US Envoy Calls for Restraint in Aleppo

The US Special Envoy for Syria, Tom Barrack, expressed deep concern over recent clashes between Kurdish and government forces in Aleppo, as these endanger the March 2025 integration agreement between the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Damascus government. During a meeting with Syrian President Ahmed al-Saraj and Foreign Minister Assad al-Shaibani, Barrack called on all parties to exercise maximum restraint, cease hostilities, and return to dialogue. The team of US Secretary of State Marco Rubio is prepared to facilitate cooperation between the two sides to advance the integration process. This appeal underscores US concern about the destabilization of the situation in Syria and the need for a political solution.
