US Temporarily Allows Russian Oil Deliveries to India

The US government announced that it is temporarily allowing, for one month until April 3rd, the delivery of Russian oil to India, despite existing sanctions. This move aims to alleviate pressure on India's supply, which has been affected by the war in the Middle East. The US Secretary of the Treasury stated that this measure will not significantly benefit Russia financially, as it concerns oil that was already on ships. The US has imposed sanctions on the Russian oil industry since 2022, but India continued to purchase Russian oil at lower prices.
