US to Take Measures to Secure Oil Transit Through Persian Gulf

The United States announced it will take steps to ensure the smooth transport of oil through the Persian Gulf amid growing concerns about disruptions to the global energy market due to geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. Treasury Secretary Scott Besett stated that the government is preparing announcements to stabilize oil shipments, starting with providing insurance for tankers through the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC). This measure aims to maintain the flow of oil through the Persian Gulf, particularly important due to the Strait of Hormuz, through which 20% of global crude oil shipments pass. Concerns about the security of energy flows have already led to an increase in oil prices. Besett assured that markets remain adequately supplied and that the US is in contact with producing countries, while global strategic oil reserves remain high, emphasizing the strong energy position of the US due to increasing oil and natural gas production.
