Three American women, aged 29, 33, and 37, were arrested at Athens International Airport on Saturday afternoon, accused of attempting to export 72 kilograms and 700 grams of cannabis. According to the Police, the women are members of an international criminal organization involved in trafficking skunk cannabis to Italy via air travel. The arrests were made following targeted checks and the utilization of information, as well as cross-referencing of data and analysis, leading to the identification of the suspects shortly before their departure for Milan. The Police had been monitoring their movements for some time. The cannabis was hidden in nylon packaging inside their luggage. The quantity of drugs indicates an organized and escalating criminal activity. The value of the seized amount has not yet been disclosed. In addition to the drugs, three mobile phones belonging to the arrested women were also confiscated. Authorities hope that the analysis of phone calls and messages will help to fully dismantle the network and identify other individuals involved. The women have been taken to the prosecutor's office, and the investigation is ongoing.
