The Cyprus Fire Service responded to two vehicle fire incidents within a 24-hour period. The first occurred in the Pera Oreini community of Nicosia, where a car parked in a covered parking space of a two-story house caught fire. The fire caused extensive damage to the vehicle's engine, but was extinguished by the owners before the arrival of the Fire Service, which completed the extinguishing and ventilation of the area. According to the Fire Service, the cause of the fire was likely mechanical or electrical failure. The second incident took place in Kiti, Larnaca, in the early hours of Wednesday, where two cars parked in an open space were engulfed in flames. The fire completely destroyed both vehicles, and fire department members used breathing apparatus and water hoses to extinguish it. Two fire trucks from the Larnaca stations arrived at the scene. The Fire Service is investigating the cause of the fire in Kiti, as it has not yet been determined. The speed of response and effective extinguishing of the fires by the Fire Service helped to limit the damage and prevent further risks. Both incidents highlight the importance of regular vehicle maintenance and prompt addressing of any mechanical or electrical faults. In total, the two incidents resulted in the destruction of three vehicles, one in Nicosia and two in Larnaca. The Fire Service remains on alert to deal with similar incidents and protect the lives and property of citizens.
