Vietnam: New Law to Curb Long, Non-Skippable Ads on YouTube

Vietnam is preparing to pass a new law that will significantly limit the duration of advertisements on YouTube. Specifically, non-skippable video ads will be capped at 5 seconds, while static or banner ads must close immediately, without delay. This law aims to protect users from lengthy and intrusive advertisements, which often last 15-20 seconds on mobile and desktop, and 30 seconds on smart TVs. The measure will impact YouTube's advertising revenue, but is expected to improve the user experience. The platform will need to adapt to the new requirements, either by shortening the duration of ads or using skippable formats.
