War of Words Erupts Between Police Chief and Unions

Tensions have erupted between the leadership of the Cyprus Police and the trade unions following the announcement of changes to police officers' working hours. The Cyprus Police Association (SAC) denounces a unilateral decision, while 'ISOTITA' speaks of 'shame and humiliation' and threatens a breakdown in relations. According to the announcements, police officers will work 15 more days per year, with a simultaneous reduction in their annual salary by €1,000. Union representatives express fears for the health and safety of police officers due to reduced rest. The SAC has called an emergency meeting to decide on the next steps, while 'ISOTITA' states that it will follow a more dynamic trade union line. Both organizations are awaiting a statement from the Minister of Justice.
