What Europeans Think About State Pensions - Will They Still Exist?

A recent survey reveals that the majority of Europeans in countries like France, Germany, Spain, Italy, and Poland doubt the long-term sustainability of their public pension systems due to population aging and fiscal pressure. Respondents express concerns about the affordability and adequacy of pensions. Greece and Italy have the highest pension expenditure as a percentage of GDP among OECD countries. A confidence gap exists between generations, with retirees being more optimistic than non-retirees. Proposals for reforms, such as raising the retirement age, do not find much support, while policies encouraging older workers to remain employed and introducing private pension systems are more accepted.
