Work Resumes on Squatters' Properties of Aykut – Concerns over Government's Decision to Allow Prison Sentence Abroad

Members of the Refugee Affairs Committee report that work has resumed on squatter properties of Simon Aykut in the occupied territories and express concern over the government's decision to allow Aykut to serve his sentence in Israel. During a meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on Refugees, information was reported about the resumption of work on approximately 40 properties that had been squatted by Aykut. MPs are calling for Aykut to remain in Cypriot prisons to serve his sentence. The meeting was held behind closed doors at the request of the Legal Service, while complaints were raised about the absence of representatives from the Presidency and the Deputy Minister to the President.
