Written Responses Requested for Disability Bill by Labor Committee

The Parliamentary Committee on Labor discussed the bill concerning people with disabilities in the presence of the Deputy Minister of Social Welfare, Klea Chatzistefanou Papaellina. Members of Parliament requested written answers to key questions, such as the number of new beneficiaries who will be released from the Minimum Guaranteed Income and the process of their integration, as well as addressing delays in appeals and strengthening services. The Committee President, Andreas Kavkalias, emphasized the need for clear answers and potential amendments to the legislation, while noting confusion regarding the exact number of beneficiaries. The Deputy Minister assured that the Deputy Ministry is studying the proposals and will provide clarifications, characterizing the framework as a major social reform aimed at decoupling disability benefits from the MGI and gradually increasing benefits.
