Xenofontos to Ioannou: Critical to Strengthen the Greek Language

The President of the Unified Cultural Doctrine (UCD), Xenos Xenofontos, met with the Minister of Interior of Cyprus, Constantinos Ioannou, to discuss the strengthening of the Greek language and the revitalization of the value system in Cyprus and Greece. The meeting took place as part of an exchange of views and to inform government officials about the resolutions of the UCD's Founding Conference, which was held in Ayia Napa with representatives from various Greek communities. During the meeting, the unfortunate state of political life and the need to protect the Greek language and national identity were emphasized. In addition, the utilization of culture and the arts as tools of cultural diplomacy, as well as addressing the demographic problem, which was characterized as of utmost importance, were discussed. The Minister of Interior congratulated the UCD for its initiative and expressed his full support for its work, recognizing the gap it fills regarding the social and cultural ties between Cyprus, Greece, and the global Greek diaspora. Mr. Ioannou accepted Mr. Xenofontos' invitation to attend the First Synod of the UCD, which will be held in Thessaloniki in March.
