Emergency Support for Veterinary Services in Cyprus with Slovak Veterinarians for Foot-and-Mouth Disease

The Veterinary Council of Cyprus has urgently approved a request for temporary licenses for four veterinarians from Slovakia to support the Veterinary Services in tackling the outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease in Cyprus. The Slovak veterinarians will work under the supervision of Cypriot services, participating in vaccinations, sampling, and epidemiological investigations. The Council clarifies that this approval is solely for addressing the current epizootic and does not set a precedent for future recruitment of veterinarians from abroad for non-emergency purposes. This move aims to immediately strengthen efforts to contain the spread of foot-and-mouth disease and protect livestock production in Cyprus.
