Erhurman: No TRNC Approval Needed for GC Unilateral Measures

T/C leader Tufan Erhurman stated that the approval of the T/C side is not required for unilateral measures taken by the G/C side, responding to questions regarding President Christodoulides' intentions to take action in the areas of health and the economy for the benefit of the T/C community. Erhurman mentioned that he has not received official proposals from the G/C side but was informed through the media. Regarding the economic aspect, he referred to a package of measures presented by President Christodoulides, which includes a request for trade through the green line regulation. Erhurman expressed reservations about the proposal to waive VAT on goods transported from the free areas to the occupied territories, believing it would create unfair competition for T/C producers. He proposed the mutual abolition of VAT on trade transactions between the two communities.
