100-Year-Old Ioanna Kekkou Passes Away - Oldest Enclaved Resident of Kormakiti

Ioanna Kekkou, the oldest enclaved resident of the occupied Kormakiti, passed away on Thursday, February 19th, at the age of 100. The late Ioanna remained in Kormakiti since 1974 along with other enclaved residents. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 21st at the Co-Cathedral of Saint George in the occupied Kormakiti. The news of her death caused sadness among the enclaved community and throughout Cyprus. Ioanna Kekkou was a symbol of resilience and hope for a return to their ancestral homes. Her long stay in Kormakiti, despite the adverse conditions, testifies to her unwavering faith in freedom and dignity.
