Emergency Kit and Self-Protection Measures in Case of Danger

The Ministry of Interior has published self-protection instructions for citizens in the event of a threat from hostile action. These instructions aim at timely preparation and taking measures for the safety of citizens. Citizens are informed about the activation of an alarm through sirens, which sound in the affected areas. In the event of a siren sounding, citizens are asked to remain calm, be informed by official sources and follow the instructions of the authorities. There are two basic siren signals: a fluctuating sound that signals the start of the alarm and a steady sound that signals the end. Citizens are asked to know the location of the nearest shelter or protection area, either through the SafeCY application or by contacting the Operations Control Center of the General Administration of Civil Defense. In the event of a need to move to a shelter, it is recommended to bring with them identification, money, water, dry food, medicine and a flashlight. In addition, the importance of calmness and avoiding the spread of rumors is emphasized. Citizens are asked to follow the instructions of Civil Defense and the competent authorities, as well as to be constantly informed about the evolution of the situation.
