Water Development Department Optimistic: Dam Levels Expected to Exceed Last Year's

The Water Development Department is optimistic about the situation of the dams, as the inflow of water is better than last year at the same time. It is estimated that the 25% fullness recorded last year on this day will be exceeded, due to the rainfall expected from Thursday until the end of the month. According to the data, the inflow of the last three days amounts to 2 million cubic meters of water, with a significant increase over the weekend. Forecasts for rain until the end of March reinforce optimism for further increase in inflow. The situation in the dams is improved compared to last year, with several dams in the province of Nicosia and in Polis Chrysochous showing significantly higher reserves. In particular, the enrichment dams Tamassos, Klirou and Solia have increased fullness, while some dams are already overflowing. The Water Development Department estimates that the improved situation will allow for a better supply of water for both drinking and irrigation, avoiding the extreme conditions that prevailed last year.
