AKEL: "Better Days for All with Collective Struggle and Solidarity"

AKEL welcomes 2026 with messages of hope, but also with concern about the social, economic and national challenges facing Cyprus. The party's General Secretary, Stefanos Stefanou, states that a large part of society needs support due to economic insecurity, accuracy and inequalities. He also points out the need for the liberation and reunification of Cyprus from Turkish occupation. AKEL expresses its belief that 2026 can be a year of change, if there are struggles, collective demands, solidarity and humanity. The party is committed to working for a better tomorrow, based on the strength of society and the promotion of the values of justice and equality. For its part, the Democratic Party (DIKO) emphasizes the need for political seriousness, responsibility and clear answers to the challenges facing Cypriot society. It warns of the dangers of populism and highlights the importance of economic resilience and social cohesion. The Citizens' Movement – Cooperation of Citizens refers to the difficulties of 2025, such as accuracy, foreclosures, energy poverty and social inequalities, and is committed to promoting environmental justice, green transition and social cohesion.
