Renowned Cypriot Chef Andreas Mavrommatis Passes Away

Internationally recognized Cypriot chef Andreas Mavrommatis passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 14, 2026, plunging his family, the local community of Agios Ioannis Pitsilias, and the culinary world into mourning. The deceased was particularly beloved and left behind a significant legacy. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, March 22, 2026, at 1:00 PM, at the Holy Church of Archangel Michael in Agios Ioannis Pitsilias. The family invites anyone wishing to honor his memory to attend. Condolences will be accepted from 12:00 PM until the start of the service. Following the burial, a memorial coffee will be held in the village square, in front of the family home. The late chef is survived by his mother, Thessalia Mavrommati, his siblings, and nieces and nephews. Instead of wreaths, the family requests that donations be made to support families in the village, with the aim of helping their children pursue their studies. This gesture highlights Andreas Mavrommatis' contribution to the local community and the family's desire to continue his work.
