Loizides Responds to Fytiris: “I Don’t Want to Fuel the Fire” – Explains Why He Believes He Was Attacked

A tense atmosphere has developed between the Minister of Justice, Konstantinos Fytiris, and the President of the ISOTITA union branch, Nikos Loizides, following statements about threats of “decapitation” and the Minister's remark that he would be pleased to see Mr. Loizides on the front lines. Mr. Loizides responded by emphasizing that he served 14 years on the front lines and that the Minister's statement constitutes a personal attack. He argued that the threats are related to his trade union activities and the representation of the police. Mr. Loizides stated that he does not want to continue the personal dispute, but believes the attack was personal. They disagreed on the labor rights of police officers, while agreeing on tackling organized crime. Additionally, Mr. Loizides mentioned that ISOTITA had proposed many measures that were later announced by the Ministry.
