Araghchi: Iran's Stance Against Nuclear Weapons Remains Unchanged

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that Iran's stance against nuclear weapons will not change, noting that the religious decree (fatwa) of the former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei against the development of weapons of mass destruction remains in force. Araghchi emphasized that he is not yet in a position to judge the views of the new Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, on the issue. Western countries had accused Iran of seeking to acquire nuclear weapons, which Tehran denies, stating that its nuclear program is exclusively for peaceful purposes.
