19 Cypriot-Flagged Ships in the Strait of Hormuz are Safe

All 19 ships under the Cypriot flag located in the Strait of Hormuz are safe, according to Charalambos Augustis, General Secretary of OMPEGE-SEK. The union is closely monitoring the situation and ensuring the safety of sailors. One ship, the Star Gwyneth, was hit by a missile on March 11, but the sailors are safe and the ship has moved away from the area. The ship has sustained damage, but there are no reports of injuries. OMPEGE-SEK is in contact with the Deputy Ministry of Shipping and is participating in a meeting of the International Maritime Organization regarding the safety of sailors in the region. The union has revised its policy on war zones and has included the Middle East. Sailors who do not wish to travel to dangerous areas have the right to disembark from ships. The safety of sailors is the top priority of OMPEGE-SEK.
