Gaza: Names of 15-Member Technocrat Committee for Governance Confirmed

The Egyptian government announced Wednesday that an agreement has been reached on the names of the members of the 15-member Palestinian technocrat committee that will take over the administration of the Gaza Strip, as part of US President Donald Trump's peace plan. The committee will be responsible for managing the daily life and basic services in Gaza. The agreement was reached after meetings in Cairo between a Hamas delegation and Egyptian mediators. Discussions also focused on the ceasefire agreement and Israeli violations of it. Two names have been proposed for the presidency of the committee: Ali Saath and Majed Abu Ramadan. Hamas and Fatah must agree on the final president to ensure unified support for the committee's work. The talks also focus on the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza, the reopening of the Rafah border crossing, and the entry of humanitarian aid. Bulgarian diplomat Nikolai Mladenov will oversee the operation of the Peace Council.
