Germany: Public Opinion Condemns US Actions in Venezuela

German public opinion overwhelmingly condemns US actions in Venezuela, with 72% deeming them unjustified. At the same time, there is a division regarding Germany's response, with 50% supporting a strong condemnation, even at the risk of displeasing Trump, and 39% proposing a more restrained approach. Germans' trust in the US has significantly decreased, with only 15% considering it a reliable partner. The research shows that France and Britain are now considered more reliable partners than the US. There is also increased concern about the growing prevalence of the law of the strong (81%), the security of Europe (69%), and relations with the US (62%). Regarding voting intentions, the Christian Democratic Union (CDU/CSU) remains the leading force with 28%, followed by the Alternative for Germany (AfD) with 25%. The Social Democratic Party (SPD) stands at 13%, the Greens at 12%, and the Left at 10%. The government shows low satisfaction rates (20%), but has improved its image on immigration. The research highlights the growing disillusionment of Germans with US foreign policy and the need for a stronger and more autonomous European Union.
