Idalion Mayor Urges Public to Avoid Infected Area

The Mayor of Idalion, Stavros Chatzigiannis, has appealed to the public to avoid the area affected by foot-and-mouth disease, as the disease has been detected in a livestock unit. The area hosts approximately 100 livestock units and 100,000 animals. The Municipality has taken preventive measures, such as installing automated spraying systems, but is concerned about the potential spread of the disease to larger livestock zones, especially dairy farms. The Veterinary Services and the Forestry Department are already on site. The Mayor emphasizes that the disease is airborne and requests the cooperation of citizens to limit its spread.
