Two-Hour Strike at Larnaca Airport

Workers at Goldair Handling Cyprus at Larnaca Airport are holding a two-hour work stoppage, protesting the company's intention to lay off dozens of employees. They are also protesting the non-payment of shift allowance on public holidays. The company informed the unions of the termination of contracts with 44 out of the 47 airlines it cooperates with, leading to redundancy for more than 100 employees. The unions argue that, according to an agreement in 2022, dismissed employees have the right to be employed by other providers under the same terms. However, the other providers are offering downgraded working conditions, leading the unions to take strike action.
